About

Join us for a seminar by Dr Toni Celià-Terrassa, Group Leader of the Cancer Cell States & Metastasis Immunity Lab at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute in Barcelona. His research examines how cancer cell-state plasticity and immune surveillance shape breast cancer metastasis, and how these principles can be exploited therapeutically. Dr Celià-Terrassa completed his PhD at the IBMB-CSIC and University of Barcelona before undertaking postdoctoral training in Professor Yibin Kang’s laboratory at Princeton University. Since establishing his independent group in 2018, his laboratory has integrated cancer cell-state dynamics, stem cell biology and tumour immunology to develop innovative immunotherapeutic and immunopreventive strategies. The seminar will highlight recent advances in immune-evasive cancer stem cell states, the immunology of micrometastasis, resistance to immunotherapy in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, and mRNA-based approaches for therapeutically modulating cancer cell states. Recent work from the group has been published in JCI, Cancer Cell and Nature Cancer.
