Bookings are open for all three termly meetings of the SEERIH Primary D&T Regional Network 2026–27 SEERIH Primary D&T Regional Network 2026–27 Practical, confidence-building professional development for primary teachers leading or developing Design & Technology. SEERIH is a specialist teacher development hub within The University of Manchester. Designed and delivered by specialist teachers from SEERIH, this fully funded network offers three practical, interactive sessions to strengthen primary D&T without adding unnecessary workload. It is open to primary teachers from Greater Manchester schools. Whether you are a D&T subject lead, ECT, sustainability lead or class teacher, the network will support you to build confidence, share practice and take away ideas you can use in school. Choose your network The same programme will run in three Greater Manchester locations: Central Manchester | Bolton | Oldham This is the page for the Bolton Network What to expect These will not be sit-and-listen sessions. Expect practical activities, collaborative discussion and time to explore approaches that fit the realities of the primary classroom. Across the year, we will explore how to make D&T manageable, inclusive and purposeful, while giving pupils greater ownership of designing, making, testing and improving. You will leave each session with practical ideas, useful resources and realistic next steps to take back to your school. Autumn: Making Connections D&T across the primary curriculum Explore what makes an activity genuinely D&T and identify where designing, making, testing and evaluating already connect with science, computing, maths, music and art. Spring: Making it Happen Practical Skills, Progression and Inclusion Build pupils’ practical capability, independence and confidence through purposeful designing and making, explicit teaching of tools and techniques, inclusive adaptations, and safe, progressive practice from EYFS to Year 6. Summer: Designing for Thinking Evaluation, Oracy and Assessment Explore how oracy, evaluation and assessment can make pupils’ design thinking more visible, supporting them to explain decisions, respond to problems, improve ideas and recognise progression without creating unnecessary workload. Who should attend? This network is for primary D&T subject leaders, sustainability leads, ECTs, class teachers and anyone from a Greater Manchester school who is keen to strengthen primary D&T. You do not need to be a D&T specialist. Come ready to share questions, try practical approaches and build confidence alongside other teachers. Book your place Places are fully funded for teachers from Greater Manchester schools and limited to 30 teachers at each network to keep sessions practical and interactive. All three sessions are available to book now, so you can plan ahead for the year.
